我院硕士生刘冬荣获武汉大学第八届“研究生十大学术之星”称号

自2014年4月15日评选活动开始以来,经过历时一个月的初评、复评和答辩环节,武汉大学第八届“研究生十大学术之星”评选工作于近日圆满结束,我院2012级硕士生刘冬成功入选。

根据武汉大学第八届“研究生十大学术之星”评选办法,本届评选经历各研究生培养单位初评、“十大学术之星”评选组委会复评以及候选人现场答辩三个环节。候选人的最终分数由复评成绩和答辩成绩两部分组成。我院2012级硕士生刘冬以136.38分成功评选为“研究生十大学术之星”。

刘冬同学自2012年9月保送至雷爱文教授课题组从事金属有机化学研究以来,一直致力于后过渡金属镍和铜催化的氧化自由基偶联反应研究。采用廉价易得的金属镍和铜为催化剂,有机过氧化物为氧化剂,实现简单的惰性Csp3-H键的活化与其它亲核试剂的氧化偶联反应,相关研究工作已经发表在化学领域国际顶级期刊杂志Angew. Chem., Int. Ed.(德国应用化学,影响因子:13.734)和Chem. Commun. (化学通讯,影响因子:6.378)上。

刘冬同学说到,此次有幸获得“研究生十大学术之星”,不仅是对自己前段工作的肯定,更是对自己今后工作的鞭策和激励。

Prof. Kenichiro Itami Visited Our Lab

Prof. Kenichiro Itami paid a visit in Wuhan University during Apr. 17-20, 2014, and was  invited to give us an excellent reports entitled with “Catalysis and C-H Activation for Advanced Biology and Materials Science”. After the seminar, Prof. Aiwen Lei and students had a kind discussion with Prof. Kenichiro Itami.

Prof. Kenichiro Itami is now the  professor of Department of Chemistry, Graduate School of Science, Nagoya University. The main emphasis of his research is on the development of new synthetic methods, strategies, and concepts to solve challenging synthetic problems for realizing ideal chemical synthesis and for generating as-yet unexplored molecules of significant interest.

雷爱文教授获中国化学会-英国皇家化学会大奖

化学与分子科学学院教授雷爱文荣获“中国化学会-英国皇家化学会青年化学奖”,全国共4人获此殊荣。颁奖仪式将于2014年中国化学会第29届学术年会期间举行。

雷爱文致力于探索一种新型的成键模式研究:氧化偶联—基于两个亲核试剂构建有机分子的新型模式,在此基础上以氧化偶联为模型,对现代偶联反应中的一些物理有机基本问题进行探索,在国际上形成了鲜明的研究特色。作为通讯作者,他已发表SCI论文逾百篇,其中包括化学类顶级期刊美国化学会志15篇,德国应用化学25篇。

雷爱文于2007年被聘为珞珈特聘教授,2009年入选教育部新世纪优秀人才并被评为第八届武汉大学杰出青年,2010年获国家杰出青年科学基金资助,2012年获湖北省自然科学一等奖并入选湖北省高端人才引领计划,2013年获湖北省青年五四奖章。

据悉,“中国化学会-英国皇家化学会青年化学奖”由中国化学会与英国皇家化学会于2007年共同设立,每两年评选一次,每次评选出4名青年优秀化学工作者,现已成功评选了四届。此奖项的评选对象主要是在化学的基础研究、应用基础研究和应用研究诸领域做出突出贡献,年龄在40周岁以下的优秀青年科学家,目的是鼓励我国青年化学工作者不断开拓创新,提高我国青年化学家的科技创新能力和水平,培养优秀青年化学人才,促进化学科学研究的发展。

Prof.Lei is paying a visit to Germany

Prof. Lei is paying a visit to Germany since Nov.26, 2013, which will last for 20 days. Prof. Lei will visit University of Heidelberg, Ludwigshafen (BASF), University of Aachen, University of Münster, University of Göttingen, TU Berlin, Leibniz-Institut für Katalyse, Rostock and will give lectures and have discussions with professors and students.

Prof. David Milstein and Prof. Yasuhiro Uozumi Visited Our Lab

Prof. David Milstein and Prof. Yasuhiro Uozumi visited our lab,  in Oct 14, 2013, and were invited to give us two excellent reports. Prof. David Milstein’s report was entitled with “Discovery of metal-catalyzed reactions for sustainable chemistry”, and Prof. Yasuhiro Uozumi’s report was entitled with “Development of High-Performance Catalytic Organic Transformation Systems via Molecular”. After the seminar, prof. Aiwen Lei and students had a kind discussion and exchange with two professors.

Prof. David Milstein is now a professorial appointment at the Weizmann Institute of Science. His research interests focus on the development of fundamental organometallic chemistry and its application to the design and implementation of new environmentally benign processes catalyzed by transition metal complexes. And he had received the Israel Prize (Israel’s highest honor) in 2012.

Professor Uozumi’s research interests are extremely broad and include catalytic molecular transformations in water under heterogeneous conditions; versatile and environmentally benign catalytic reactions; and instantaneous catalytic molecular transforming systems, through, in addition to minute structural design of molecular catalysts, synergistic reaction driving/controlling with cooperation of the catalysts with reaction media and/or reaction equipment.

Prof. Shu Kobayashi Visited Our Lab

Prof. Shu Kobayashi Visited Our Lab and gave a wonderful lecture entitled with “New Catalysts for Powerful and Efficient Organic Synthesis” in Oct. 8th, 2013. After the seminar, he had a kind discussion and exchange with students.

Shu Kobayashi is currently Professor in the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Tokyo. Professor Kobayashi’s research interests are extremely broad and include development of new synthetic methods, development of novel catalysts (especially chiral catalysts), organic synthesis in water, solid-phase organic synthesis, total synthesis of biologically interesting compounds, and organometallic chemistry.

雷爱文教授出席第十三届全国均相催化学术讨论会

2013年9月26日到28日,雷爱文教授,张恒副教授,刘超博士及学生前往苏州参加第十三届全国均相催化学术讨论会。

雷爱文教授于28日下午应邀为参加会议的专家学生做了一场精彩的大会报告——“Oxidative Coupling——Chemistry between Two “Nuclephiles””。同日下午,我组师仁义同学的墙报“Palladium / Copper-Catalyzed Oxidative N-Dealkylative/Carbonylation”被荣幸授予“优秀墙报奖”。

Prof. Lei Attended The 15th ACC and Won Asian Rising Star

Prof. Lei Attended The 15th Asian Chemical Congress, Singapore during Aug. 19-23, 2013, and won the Asian Rising Star.

Also , during the 15ACC, prof. Lei took the opportunity to join the circle of “Angewandte friends”(The photo below).

The 6th Catalysis Symposium was Held


The 6th catalysis symposium was hosted in Wuhan University in August 30, 2013.

During this amazing day, Professor Kenichiro Itami, from Nagoya University, gave a perfect seminar named ‘Catalyst-Enabling Chemistry toward Transformative Molecules’. Professor Ning Jiao, from Peking University, gave an impressive seminar of ‘Highly Efficient Methodologies via Aerobic Oxidation and Oxygenation’. Professor Sawamura Masaya, from Hokkaido University, gave a wonderful seminar entitled with‘Transition Metal Catalyzed Directed Borylation of C(sp2)–H and C(sp3)–H Bonds with Immobilized Phosphine Ligands’. Professor Yu Lan, from Chongqing University, gave an inspiring seminar about‘Mechanism, Reactivity, and Selectivity —- A Theoretical Investigation of Some Organometallic Reactions’. Professor Xile Hu, gave a full of praise lecture of ‘Base metal catalysis for cross coupling of alkyl halides and C-H alkylation’. After which, Mr. Youquan Zou, from Prof. Wenjing Xiao’s group in Huazhong Normal University, gave the lecture of‘Visible light photoredox catalysis: applications in organic synthesis’. And Mr. Hong Yi, from Prof. Aiwen Lei’s group in Wuhan University, gave a lecture of‘Oxidative Coupling —New ways to realise and understand’.

After the council, the professors attended the badminton game between Prof. Aiwen Lei’s group and Prof. Wenjing Xiao’s group and had a detailed discussion with Prof. Lei and students the next day.
